Railway staff to launch stir against pay panel report

Expressing resentment against the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, Indian Railway Promotee Officers Federation (IRPOF) on Monday decided to launch a nationwide stir demanding justice.

"The recommendations of the Pay Commission relating to Group B officers of railways have caused loss of status in hierarchy as well as financial loss to these officers which have affected the very purpose of the constitution of the pay commission, Jitendra Singh, secretary general of IRPOF, told reporters.

"So, we have decided to launch a nation wide agitation along with other federations of railway staff demanding justice for the Group B officers," he said.

Terming the recommendations "unexpected and unacceptable", he said it has discriminated against Group B officers by allotting them Pay Band-2 instead of Pay Band-3.

"It is shocking to find that about 80 per cent of Group B officers who are at par with junior time scale have now been put in Pay Band 2 with Grade of Rs 8700-34,800. It should have been in Pay Band 3 with the grade of Rs 15,600-39,100 to maintain status quo," he said.

Till now grade of Rs 8000-13,500 which is at par with Group A officers and available to majority of the group B officers," he said.
